Ceritera: Along the Perak River

Chandan hill

Bukit Chandan is the seat of government of the Sultanate of Perak today. It is known for housing figures and adiguru in the field of blacksmithing (dagger making) and the art of cutting. This episode features Pak Mazin Abdul Jamil, a 72-year-old master blacksmith who makes keris for state dignitaries and Hjh Azizah Yusof, a gold thread master who is now 84 years old, with clients from all over the world including the Sultan of Brunei. Although this area is a hill and is located quite high from the river, the river still plays a role in the selection of this area as the center of government because there are several locations on the river near the famous Chandan hill. For example Lukuk Mat Anjing which the locals call. It is well known in local folklore.
